I have never owned a crock pot, but recently my friends have shared recipes that "require" one. After reading reviews at various cooking sites I decided on the Hamilton Beach Stay or Go. So far no complaints. I love the way the top latches and seals for easy transport. The spoon attaches to the top which is also handy. The big oblong shape accomodates spareribs and big roasts easily. The big handles make for easy carrying. I haven't found one negative thing. The price is great.

I looked around for decent ratings on a slow cooker. Many were not great: seemed to depend on the particular unit more than anything. I've used this for several weeks and it works fine. We'll see for how long. It wasn't nearly as expensive as a top line All-Clad. Has a simple on/off low/high dial. Perfect for me.

I bought this as a gift for my wife. She's very happy with it, but did comment that the temperature regulation could be improved.
